Hello everyone
I have recently started a new project.I am building Royal William to the scale of 1/72 using Euromodel plans and photos of the four contemporary models still in existence. The model will be of framed construction, but that of the Navy Board style,as apposed to historically accurate.
All construction will be in Swiss Pear with ebony used for many of the details.I am drafting all the frames by hand using the information on Euromodel's sheer plan.
The first task was to 'prove' that the frames could be made easily.I had concerns as the upper section would work out at 2mm thick. There was no need for concern as the first frame assembly I made up proved to be very strong.Between every 2 full and 2 half frames will be a movement gap. This will stop problems of movement due to swelling of the frames and prevent cracking.
Here is the first frame assembly which was my 'test bed'
Kind Regards
Nigel
